Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an electrophoretic particle manufacturing method capable of immobilizing a polymer on the surface of a base particle regardless of the type of the base particle, even if the base particle has no functional group on its surface; an electrophoretic particle having a surface on which the polymer is immobilized; and an electrophoretic dispersion liquid, an electrophoretic sheet, an electrophoretic device, and an electronic apparatus that use the electrophoretic particle and have high reliability.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an electrophoretic particle 1 including a mother particle (particle) 2 having a surface for exposing a first functional group and a coating layer 3 for coating the mother particle 2 comprises the steps of: including a dispersion part 33 in which a monomer M1 is polymerized by living polymerization and a crosslink and adsorption part 34 in which a monomer M4 is polymerized and obtaining a polymer 35 in which the dispersion part 33 and the crosslink and adsorption part 34 connect with each other; adsorbing the crosslink and adsorption part 34 on the surface of the mother particle 2; and connecting between the polymers 35 by performing crosslinking on crosslinking groups via a crosslinking agent to form the coating layer 3.
