PURPOSE: To provide a photoreceptor having improved mechanical strength such as abrasion resistance and scar resistance and excellent in durability by using a polycarbonate resin containing a specific fluorene skeleton as a cyclic unit for the surface layer of the photoreceptor.

CONSTITUTION: The surface of a photosensitive layer contains a polycarbonate resin having the cyclic unit expressed by the formula. In the formula, R1-R8 indicate the halogen atom selected from hydrogen atom, fluorine atom, chlorine atom, and bromine atom, alkyl group having the carbon number of 1-5, aryl group having the carbon number of 6-12, alkenyl group having the carbon number of 2-5, alkoxy group having the carbon number of 1-5, or aralkyl group having the carbon number of 7-17 which may have a substituent respectively. The alkyl group having the carbon number of 1-5, alkenyl group having the carbon number of 1-5, alkoxy group having the carbon number of 1-5, fluorine atom, chlorine atom, bromine atom, and dimethylsiloxy group have the substituent which may be contained in any of them. At least one of R1-R4 indicates the group other than hydrogen atom.
