To obtain a negative electrification type electrophotographic photoreceptor having high sensitivity, high electrification ability and low residual potential by incorporating a specified phthalocyanine into a photosensitive layer or a middle layer disposed on an electrically conductive substrate.
A single layer type or laminate type photosensitive layer contg. a halogen substd. phthalocyanine represented by formula I or II and having ≤-6.84 eV energy level of its highest occupied molecular orbital(HOMO) is disposed on an electrically conductive substrate. In the formulae I and II, X is halogen, preferably F or Cl, Y is a ligand, M is a metallic atom selected from among Al, In, Si, Ge, Sn, Mg, Ti and Zn and (n) is an integer of 2-4. A middle layer contg. the halogen substd. phthalocyanine and a single layer type or laminate type photosensitive layer may be disposed on an electrically conductive substrate.
