Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an electrophotographic receptor free from ground staining due to repeated use and capable of forming a stable image by using a hydrolyzate of a specified silane coupling agent to form a transparent protective layer on a photoconductive layer.

CONSTITUTION: A photoconductive layer formed on a substrate is coated with a hydrolyzate of a silane coupling agent represented by formula I (where R is 1W4C alkyl, 1W4C alkoxy, phenyl or phenoxy; each of R1 and R2 is 1W4C alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aryl or phenyl; R1 and R2 may form a morpholine group or the like together with N; R3 is 1W4C alkyl; and X is halogen; each of m and n is 2 or 3), e.g. the compound of formula II, and the coated hydrolyzate is dried to form a transparent protective layer.
