Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve sensitivity, durability, stability, and film forming property, by forming a layer containing a specified spiropyazoline compound in an electrophotographic receptor.

CONSTITUTION: In an electrophotographic receptor is formed a layer containing a compound represented by formulaIin which R1 is a monovalent heterocyclic group, such as derived from pyridine or benzothiazole; R2 is aryl, such as phenyl or α-naphthyl, or heterocyclic, such as furan or phenothiazine; R3 is alkyl, such as methyl or 2-chloroethyl; R4 is H or halogen; R5 is H, halogen, alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl, such as benzyl or α-naphthylmethyl; Z is =C(R6)(R7) or -CH=CH-, R6, R7 being alkyl; m is 0 or 1; and n is 1W4. Said compound of formulaIcan be easily synthesized by forming a ring between a compound represented by formula II and a compound represented by formula III in which Y is an acid residue.
