PURPOSE: To prevent deterioration in picture quality even if the length of a photosensitive body is short by employing a specific developer, forming a process with specific stages and repeating the process if transfer is not performed.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal printer is disposed in the vicinity of a photosensitive belt drum 1 or in its surrounding, and a developing device 2 electrifies the photosensitive face 1a of the drum 1 uniformly at a prescribed potential. Then, a liquid crystal head 3 exposes the photosensitive face 1a to form an electrostatic latent image to be recorded, and the developing device 4 performs reversal development with the developer. It is composed of toner and carriers, which have a volumetric electric resistance of 1×108 to 1010Ω.cm. A transfer device 5 transfers the developed toner picture onto a transfer paper T to form an electrophotographic process. In the case the picture is not transferred, substance remaining on the photosensitive face 1a is not removed, but the process is repeated to obtain a picture. Thus, even if cleaner is not used and the length of the photosensitive body is shorter than the maximum transfer paper size, picture quality is not deteriorated.
