PURPOSE: To obtain a gel compsn. comprising a specific silicone polymer, active solid particles and a metal catalyst and showing peculiar rheological characteristics drastically increased in viscosity and elastic modulus by the application of voltage.
CONSTITUTION: A gel compsn. is obtained by compounding (A) a curable silicone polymer selected from a curable silicone polymer selected from the formula (RO3)SiO(RXSiO)m(R2SiO)nSi(OR)3, the formula (RO)3(RXSiO)m(R2SiO)nSi(X)3 and the formula (X)3SiO(RXSiO)m(R2SiO)nSi(X)3 (wherein R is a 1-20C moonovalent hydrocarbon; X is R, an acryloxy, hydroxy, an alkoxy, oxime or a 2-20C olefinic hydrocarbon; (m) is an average value of 0-100; and (n) is an average value of 100-2,000), (B) electrorheologically active solid particles and (C) a metal catalyst and shows storage elastic modulus of 500-500,000 pascal at 25°C and 100 Hz before the application of an electric field and has a peak strain amplitude such that the gel is present in a viscoelastic linear region and a dynamic mechanical loss tangent of at least 0.5.
