PURPOSE: To obtain the electrostatic recording medium of high strength and superior durability by providing the dielectric layer composed primarily of vinylidene fluoride-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer.

CONSTITUTION: The solution comprising mixing a 20% methyl ethyl ketone solution of vinylidene fluoride-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer [specific gravity 1.88; mp. 128W139°C, dielectric constant 8.1 (at 103Hg), 7.4 (at 106Hg), VT-50 made by Daikin Kogyo, etc.] and a 5% methyl ethyl ketone solution of polyester (B-200 made by Toyobo, etc.) at 40pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. of the former is coated on a conductive substrate and is then dried, whereby the dielectric layer is formed. In this way, the electrostatic recording medium of high adhesiveness, good surface smoothness and high durability to repeated use of dielectric constant 6.8 and specific volume resistivity 5×1014Ωcm is obtained.
