There is provided an end effector assembly 100 for an electrosurgical instrument. The end effector assembly 100 has a pair of a first jaw member 110 and a second jaw member 110 including respective seal plates 118 and 128 having a width. Each of the seal plates 118 and 128 is adapted to connect to an energy source. The first jaw member 110 and the second jaw member 120 are operable in a first mode of operation for treating tissue and a second mode of operation for separating tissue.
