Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the title compsn. which generates a large shearing force and in excellent in electric current characteristics and long-term stability.
CONSTITUTION: A vinylarom. compd. is copolymerized with a polyvinyl compd. in two steps: the first step comprises conducting the copolymn. below 80°C until the conversion reaches 30-80wt.%, and the second step comprises conducting the copolymn. at 80°C or higher until the conversion reaches at least 99.8wt.%. The resulting copolymer is sulfonated to give a sulfonated copolymer, of which particles are dispersed in an electrical insulating oil. Thus, the title compsn. is prepd. which generates a large shearing force, is excellent in electric current characteristics and long-term stability, and can be used in various devices such as a clutch, a damper, a brake, a shock absorbed, an actuator, a valve, or an engine mount.
