PURPOSE: To improve operational property of an elevator when congested by providing destination floor registration buttons, door opening buttons and door closing buttons on the front column surface constituting the entrance of a car and thereby having elevator passengers in an elevators hall able to push and operate the destination floor calling registration buttons before stepping into the car.

CONSTITUTION: Destination floor calling registration buttons 8, door opening buttons 6 and door closing buttons 7 are provided on a front column 1 surface 1a forming a car entrance passage. By providing such destination floor calling registration buttons 8 on the surface 1a, elevator passengers waiting at an elevator hall can surely push the destination floor calling registration buttons by themselves before stepping into the car. The cross section of the front column 1 is preferable to be made into a tapered shape with its entrance side opened to the outside and the tapered surface facing the elevator passengers provided with destination floor calling registration buttons and the others, so that not only the floor characters of the destination floors on the destination floor calling registration buttons and the like be made clearly recognized by the elevator passengers but also to prevent wrong operation and to enable buttons to be pushed with facility.
