PURPOSE: To provide an elevator control method capable of reducing an operational hindrance and passenger's unpleasant feeling with simplification and high accuracy realized by minimizing the detection range of parallel travel and also a start preventing time.

CONSTITUTION: When a No. A start request signal 13a is outputted to a start command circuit 20 in starting the elevator No. A, 10A, a No. B, 10B, is started if the start request signal 13b of the No. B, 10B, is sent already to the start command circuit 20, and the No. A, 10A, is waiting its start until the No. b start request signal 13b disappears. When the nonexistence of the No. B start request signal 13b is judged, the travel direction of the No. B, 10B, is adjudicated based on respective signals 11b and 12b, and the travel direction is specified when the No. B, 10B, has the same direction as the start direction of the No. A, 10A, to detect the possibility of parallel travel based on only a travel time from a start time. Consequently a detection range is minimized, and also a start preventing time is minimized because start prevention is immediately released at the point of time when the possibility of parallel travel is eliminated.
