To prevent overheating in a specific armature coil when a car 1 is stopped at any floor in the elevator device lifting and driving the car 1 with a linear synchronous motor.
In this elevator device, the linear synchronous motor comprises an armature coil row 4 including three phases of coils 41, 42, and 43 to be supplied with three-phase alternating current that are repeatedly arranged along a hoistway wall and a magnet 2 disposed in the car 1, and is connected to a controller. The controller supplies the three-phase alternating current to the linear synchronous motor and controls phase of the three-phase alternating current to maximize thrust of the linear synchronous motor. The controller fixes the phase of the three-phase alternating current to stop the car 1, when ratio of currents flowing through three phases of coils 41, 42, and 43 forming the armature coil row 4 becomes 1:-1:0, in response to a stopping command of stopping the car 1.
