PURPOSE: To improve the fine design view of an elevator device by installing a releasing mechanism which oscillates and moves a hook upwards by means of energization into the upper lifting passage side of a sliding door and releases the engagement of the hook with an engaging member to eliminate a key hole in the sliding door.

CONSTITUTION: When the doorways 1 of the floors where an elevator does not stay are opened by hand for maintenance and inspection, a key rod is inserted into a key hole in a frame body side portion and a switch 13e is depressed. As a result, a releasing mechanism 11 comes into action, a transmission portion 11b rises, a hook 7 rotates clockwise, and the engagement of the hook portion 7b of the hook 7 with an engaging member 4b is released. It is thus possible to open a sliding door 5 by hand.
