PURPOSE: To prevent a person from falling into the elevator duct or having his foot nipped by the building floor and the gondola, by positioning the top of a protective plate an the same plane as the front of the gondola floor and posioning the lower part of the protective plate inside the front of the gondola floor toward the interior of the gondola.
CONSTITUTION: The protective plate 20 is mounted under the gondola floor 9 with a gradient angle θ between the plate 20 and the vertical plane and the horizontal distance between the lower end of the protective plate 20 and the front of the gondola floor is set at 5 to 100mm so that the gap δ between the thershold 13 on the building floor 6 and the threshold 12 on the gondola is assured not to hinder the vertical motion of the elevator. Thereby, the gap δ is assured even if the protective plate 20 is distorted or bent.
