To provide an elevator which can perform the operation for a control circuit, which must be done when adjusting and maintaining the elevator, effectively and safely and in which the control circuit of a control device can be installed with dead space in a hoistway put to practical use effectively.
This elevator is provided with a car 2 which moves upward and downward in a hoistway 1, a motor 4 for driving the car 2 and a control device for controlling the operation of the elevator. The control device is provided with a main circuit 15 supplying electric power to the motor 4 for driving the motor 4, and a control circuit 16 for controlling the motion of the car 2. The main circuit 15 and the control circuit 16 are constituted independent of each other. The main circuit 15 is arranged near the motor 4 in the hoistway 1, and the control circuit 16 is installed in the panel of a door 12 on the side of an elevator landing 10, which can be operated from the elevator landing 10.
