PURPOSE: To support the bodies of the aged or physically hadicapped persons and to keep a door opened for them by preparing both a platform hand rail, which is installed in three-side frames at an elevator hall an issues a pressure-applying signal, and a door controller, which regulates the door closing, based on the pressurization signal.

CONSTITUTION: A platform handrail 7, which is formed by covering the periphery of a rod shaft 8 with conductive rubber 9 into an integrated body in the axial direction, is installed in both (right and left) sides and in the vertical direction on the front side of a three-side frame 2. When the platform handrail 7 is gripped by man, conductive rubber 9 is brought in electrical contact with the shaft 8 by pressurization, and the electric signal generated is taken in by a platform detector 10, so that a fact that the platform handrail 7 is touched by man is detected. This detection signal is taken in by a door controller 5, being treated as equivalent to a pushing-caused- -signal of a conventional push button at the elevator platform. Accordingly, because of this input signal, the door controller issues a door-closing restricting command in order to stop the door closing movement of a door closing motor 6. With this contrivance, when a passenger like the aged grips the platform handrail 7, the body of the passenger is supported by the handrail 7, and at the same time, the elevator door is kept open.
