PURPOSE: To listen to an emergency alarm broadcast with better reception state by providing a control means comparing the reception state of an FM broadcast with an AM broadcast and giving a command to a changeover switch so as to connect a detection circuit having the better reception state to an output circuit.
CONSTITUTION: When a standby section 2 receives the start signal of the emergency alarm broadcast while the power switch 6 of a receiver 5 is interrupted, an emergency alarm broadcast discrimination circuit 9 recognizes a detection output signal connected by a changeover switch circuit 13 as the start signal of the emergency alarm broadcast to energize the receiver 5. On the other hand, a command is given to a reception state comparison circuit 14 so that both detection output signals from an FM detection circuit 12a and an AM detection circuit 12b are compared and a detection circuit with better reception state is connected to the emergency alarm broadcast discrimination circuit 9. The reception state comparison circuit 14 receiving the command switches the changeover switch circuit 13 as necessary and the emergency information is outputted from a speaker 7 by using a broadcast with better reception state in the emergency alarm broadcast by the FM and AM broadcast. Thus, the emergency alarm broadcast is listened to with better reception state at all times.
