PURPOSE: To provide such an emergency lamp as being capable of displaying a position during power failure and precluding its use except during power failure.

CONSTITUTION: An emergency power circuit 18 outputs a failure signal during power failure and a takeoff signal during takeoff. A failure detecting circuit 34 outputs a failure detecting signal in response to the failure signal. A takeoff detecting circuit 52 outputs a takeoff detecting signal in response to the takeoff signal. A lighting circuit 62 flashes a lamp in response to the failure detecting signal and holds the lamp 60 in a lighting condition in response to the takeoff detecting signal. When the takeoff signal is issued except during the issue of the failure signal, a burglar-proof circuit 56 prevents the takeoff detecting signal to be output from the takeoff detecting circuit 52 and precludes its use.
