Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a pharmaceutical release system that contains a biocompatible polymer bearing cyclic anhydride parts derived with an active substance, forms a coating layer on topical parts where the active substance is released from the layer and absorbed through the skin. CONSTITUTION: This release system comprises (A) a cyclic anhydride part- containing biocompatible film-forming polymer, for example, an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or its cyclic anhydride-vinyl ether copolymer and (B) a pharmaceutically active substance bearing parts selected from the hydroxyl part that can form a half ester with the cyclic anhydride part in the polymer (A) and the amine part that can form a half amide therewith and/or an active derivative compound as a reaction product with the therapeutically active substance. In the release system, the active substance is formulated up to 30wt.%, preferably in an amount of 0.05-10wt.%. In addition, a release-improving agent, a diluent or vehicle may be arbitrarily formulated.
