PURPOSE: To carry out the continuous operation by guiding empty cans to be put in into a crushing section in the open state, closing the crushing section and carrying out crushing, and then dropping the empty cans into a rotating drum with magnet, attracting magnetic cans and guiding the same to a first discharge outlet, while non- magnetic empty cans are passed through the drum and discharged into a second discharge outlet.

CONSTITUTION: Empty cans are slid down in the arrow A direction along an empty can passage 2 and dropped between a fixed press plate 3 and a movable press plate 4 in the open state. Checkered plates 3a and 4a are provided on the surfaces of the fixed press plate 3 and movable press plate 4 to ensure crushing. When empty cans are dropped, a motor 8 is started to rock the movable press plate 4 to the side of fixed press plate 3 and crush the empty cans. The motor 8 further continues rotating to separate the movable press plate 4. The crushed empty cans are dropped onto a rotating drum 10a. At that time, magnetic empty cans are attracted onto a magnet 10c on the rotating drum 10a, moved together with the rotating drum 10a and collected in a container for exclusive use by a chute 11a as shown by an arrow mark. Non- magnetic empty cans are not attracted but dropped directly into the container used exclusively for non-magnetic cans as shown by an arrow mark B.
