Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide an encoder that is able to detect any traveling information on a movable body in a highly accurate manner, and the assembling method. CONSTITUTION:In this encoder, light flux out of a light radiation means LR is irradiated to a movable body provided with an optical scale 3 consisting of a constant periodic grating, while the light flux subjected to light modulation in this optical scale 3 is received by a light receiving means 4, and using a signal out of this light receiving means 4, traveling information on the movable body is detected. In addition, the light radiation means LR and the light receiving means 4 are mounted on an optical scale 11 a, and when this optical scale 11a is attached to a mounting surface of a setting part via at least three protuberant absorbing parts 11b, an absorbing part 16 is composed of a smaller material in rigidity than that of the mounting surface of the setting part.
