Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an encoder that can generate output signals of excellent chopping waves, and can be easily assembled and be composed of low-cost parts, and is hard to be damaged even when external impact is applied to. CONSTITUTION:The encoder is provided with a light source part 1 for projecting semi-parallel light 10, a movable slit member 4 where slits 4a are formed at a specified pitch, a fixed slit member 5 where slits 5a are formed at the same pitch, and a light receiving part 6 for receiving the light transmitting through the part 5. When the clearance between the members 4 and 5 is R, the pitch in the slits 4a and 5a d, the wavelength of the light from the part 1 lambda, respectively, the relationship between the clearance R and the pitch d is set to be R=d<2>/(4lambda).
