PURPOSE: To efficiently carry out an ending operation by detecting that the yarn end on a bobbin side and the yarn end on a package side are both drawn out by means of a yarn detector and starting a drum only at the time of detecting the draw-out of both yarn ends.
CONSTITUTION: If either of lower yarn 11, i.e., the yarn on a bobbin 10 side or upper yarn, i.e., the yarn of a package 12 side fails to be drawn out, a drum 15 is not started. The drum 15 is started only when the draw our of both yarns 11, 13 is detected by a yarn detector 14. The ending is always unsuccessful if even either of the yarn ends 11, 13 fails to be drawn out. Hence, by prohibiting the start of the drum 15 at this time, it can be prevented that the yarn end is beaten against the drum 15 disturbing the yarn on the package 12 side or that the pick finding of yarn fails for some time in the second operation which is continuously carried out. On the other hand, when both yarn ends 11, 13 are drawn out, the ending operation proves successful with an extremely high probability.
