PURPOSE: To prevent production of the slack of a thread by a method wherein, when ending of a cut thread end is effected and a package is rerotated, the more the size of the package is increased, the more a timing at which the action of a knotter is started to a timing at which a motion to return the package in the direction of a friction roller is started is decreased, and the more the size of the package is decreased, the more the timing is increased.
CONSTITUTION: A package 1 supported to a cradle arm 2 is brought into contact with a friction roller 3 to reel a thread around the package 1. In this case, through rocking of the cradle arm 2 in which the thread is broken, the package 1 is separated away from the friction roller 3, the knotter is actuated. After completion of ending, through rocking of the cradle arm 2, the package 1 is brought into contact with the friction roller 3 to rotate the package 1. The more the size of the package is increased, the more a timing at which the action of the knotter is started to a timing at which a motion to return the package 1 in the direction of the friction roller 3 is starting is decreased, and the more the size of package is decreased, the more the timing is increased. This method provides a package freed from the slack of a thread.
