PURPOSE: To restrain the offset condition of an endless belt and prevent the fracture or the like thereof by providing a pressing contact member in such a way as kept in contact with the endless side of the belt at the predetermined position near at least one end of the belt for changing the travel route thereof in respect of a cross section.
CONSTITUTION: A fixing endless belt 12 in the fixing device of a copying machine is extended between a driving roller 14 and a driven roller 15, and the driven roller 15 is fitted with a tension application member (not shown herein) for applying tension to the belt 12. A heating body 16 is provided at a part of the travel route of the belt 12, and faced to a pressure roller 13 via the belt 12. When the constitution is applied to this type of device, a pressing contact member 20 for the belt 12 is provided to prevent the offset state thereof. This member 20 is made of heat resisting resin, and fixed to the heating body 16 via a support member 19. Also, the member 20 is made to have, for example, a wedge form, in order to be capable of pressing the belt 12 more strongly, when nearing the end thereof.
