PURPOSE: To enable getting off to a floor directly from a loading plate by sinking progress of the loading plate slightly from the floor surface before entering an S-shaped turning part, and by covering it with an iron plate.

CONSTITUTION: When a loading plate 1 moves from a spiral escalation part 2 to an S-shaped reversion part through a short and linear horizontal return part 3, a traveling surface of the loading plate 1 is slightly sunk from the floor surface and a floor lid 5 is given, and then a person gets on directly to the floor lid 5 immediately before the loading plate 1 movies to the S-shaped part 4 as in the case of a general escalator. As the person gets on in a rectilinear part, a creep is applied to the surface of a tread, which is combined with rubber so as to enable safe getting off without a fear that tiptoes are caught. By this, direct and safe getting on and off as in the case of the general escalator is realized.
