Abstract:
To obtain a nutrition composition or an antiviral agent containing a new lactone derivative of an N-acetylneuraminic acid compound not to be hydrolyzed by sialidase in vivo.
This composition such as powdered milk for infant rearing, diet during the weaning period, a nutrient for intestinal administration, an antiviral agent, etc., is characterized in that the composition contains at least 0.01 wt.% of 3'-N-acetylneuraminyllactose lactone having resistance to hydrolysis with endogenous sialidase or a lactone derivative of N-acetylneuraminic acid compound obtained from casein or casein hydrolyzate as an active ingredient.
