To provide a highly operable endoscope insertion part shape recognition system capable of reproducing the shape of an insertion part though it is small-sized by simple constitution.
A plurality of sensors (coils) are arranged at prescribed intervals at the flexible tubular part 21 of a sensor probe 20, and the tubular part 21 is inserted to the forceps channel 14 of an endoscope. The fitting part 22A of a probe connector 22 provided on the proximal end of the tubular part 21 is mounted on a forceps port 14A. The probe connector 22 is provided with a light emitting element 221. A light receiving element 111 is provided on a position facing the light emitting element 221 of an endoscope operation part 11. Signals detected in the sensors are transmitted from the sensor probe 20 to the endoscope operation part 11 by optical communication by using the light emitting element 221 and the light receiving element 111.
