Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope shape detection device by which an operator easily confirms whether the position is deviated from a detectable range with a specified accuracy.
SOLUTION: The detection device 21 for sensing the inserting shape of the endoscope is provided with a connector receiver 21a, etc., which the connector 16a, etc., of a probe 15 to be arranged at the insertion part of the endoscope is connected to or disconnected from. A CPU 32 detects connection, judges whether the endoscope is within an effective detection range where the position can be detected by a prescribed precision or precision higher than this based on detection output by sense coils 22a, 22b, etc., for detecting a magnetic field by a source coil 14i. Based on result of judgment, displaying color of a monitor 25 is changed to enable the operator to easily confirm whether the position is deviated from an effectively detectable range.
