Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorption structure of a car body side to further improve the performance of protecting an occupant at side impact of the vehicle.
SOLUTION: This energy absorption structure of a car body side is provided with an air bag 9 for restraint of an occupant M in a car interior by expanding inside the vehicle at side impact. A roof side rail 1d positioned on the upper side of the car interior forms a closed cross section with an inner panel 1f and an outer panel 1g, and the air bag 9 is mounted using the closed cross section of the roof side rail 1d on the car interior side from the outer panel 1g followed by providing a trim 16 on the car interior side so as to cover the air bag 9. The trim 16 has a securing part 16b mounted on the car interior side and disengaging parts 16a, 19, 20 disengaged by an air bag expanding pressure.
