Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide both the use of an energy transfer system for measuring the distance within a molecule or between different molecules, especially in a DNA or an RNA sequence or between the different DNA or RNA sequences and a method for using thereof in a diagnostic assay.
CONSTITUTION: This energy transfer system is composed of two organic compounds in which one thereof is a lumazine type chromophore and the other is an Ru complex interacting therewith. For example, the energy transfer system is characterized in that the lumazine type chromophore and the ruthenium complex undergo different modifications or incorporated in an unmodified DNA or RNA sequence.
