To eliminate the influenece of noises to permit stable fuel injection by detecting the current value after cutting off a current flowing to a valve opening coil in controlling the current flowing time of the holding coil on the basis of the current value flowing to the valve opening coil in a fuel injection valve having the valve opening coil and holding coil.
During the operation of an engine, a fuel computing means 19 in an engine control device 1 computes fuel injection time and injection quantity on the basis of signals from an engine speed sensor 2, airflow sensor 3, and the like and sends the computed result to a valve opening coil driving circuit 5 and a holding coil driving circuit 6 via a switching means 20. In this case, the current flowing time of a holding coil of an injector 7 is controlled by a holding coil current flowing time control means 21 on the basis of the voltage value detected by a valve opening coil current detecting circuit 10. At this time, the current value of the valve opening coil is detected after cutting off a current flowing to the valve opening coil and before cutting off a current flowing to the holding coil, and the current flowing time of the holding coil is controlled on the basis of this current value.
