Title:
ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3925725
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine cooling system which performs the opening-closing action of a sub-thermostat only in response to the water temperature of cooling water discharged into a high temperature flow passage via an outlet of a cylinder block side cooling water passage, in the engine cooling system having a main thermostat and the sub-thermostat, so as to individually control a cooling water flow of a cylinder block and a cylinder head.
SOLUTION: A stagnant chamber for staying the cooling water discharged from the cylinder block, is provided in a sub-thermostat housing for installing the sub-thermostat. A temperature sensing cylinder of the sub-thermostat is positioned in the stagnant chamber. A confluent passage is formed for communicating the stagnant chamber with a cooling water discharge passage of the cylinder head. A through-hole is formed in a valve seat of the sub-thermostat. The through-hole is formed on the opposite side of the cooling water discharge passage of the cylinder head.
