Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an engine oil composition resistant to deterioration even in case of contact with NOx gas, esp. stably working even in case of such contact for a long period of time.

CONSTITUTION: The engine oil composition comprising (A) a lubricating base oil, (B) a ashless dispersant, (C) a metallic cleaning agent, (D) zinc dithiophosphate, and (E) a sulfurcontg. phenol derivative {e.g. 2,4-bis[(octylthio) methyl]-ocresol, 2,2-thio-diethylenebis[3-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate], tridecyl-2-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxybenzylthio)acetate}.
