PURPOSE: To produce quickly and smoothly a torque corresponding to both the displacement of an accelerator pedal and a change in the accelerator pedal displacement by detecting the engine torque of an output delivery shaft of an engine at all times as a parameter for an engine output control.
CONSTITUTION: The displacement of an accelerator pedal detected by a sensor 1 and signals from sensors of various types provided to an engine 3 are inputted into an electromagnetic control unit 2 through a signal line 4. And based on the output signal from the unit 2, a fuel injection device 8 which controls the engine 3, and the switching of an air conditioner 9 are controller. In this case, a torque detector 6 is provided to an output shaft 5 of the engine 3 for inputting the detected signal into the unit 2 through a signal line 7. And when an engine torque is varied, the engine 3 is controlled with the fuel injection device 8 actuated such that a change in the engine torque dθ/dt corresponds with a set value which is expressed in a function of the accelerator pedal displacement θ and a change in the accelerator pedal displacement dθ/dt.
