Abstract:

To provide an engine start control device for vehicles, which can set an optimum engine start torque of the right amount for completing engine start in a predetermined time from engine start request, in consideration of variation for each engine rotation stop position immediately before engine start time.

An electric motor running operation region A, in which an output torque range is specified, is set according to a rotation speed NMG of the electric motor 12 so that the engine start torque Ts, which is output from an electric motor 12 at engine start time during running of the electric motor, may be calculated based on an engine rotation stop position PBTDC immediately before engine start time to become a minimum necessary value for the engine start torque Ts to start the engine 14, and so that when the electric motor is running, the electric motor 12 may be operated in a state that remaining power of the engine start torque Ts is left.
