Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine start control unit capable of suppressing an increase in manufacturing cost and implementing vapor measures without influence on the layout of other components around an engine, and reliably the elimination of vapor generated in a fuel pump, and improving the high-temperature startability of the engine.SOLUTION: A fuel pump 26 is provided at a position proximate to an engine 1 mounted in a two-wheeled vehicle, and the fuel pump 26 is actuated for pressure increase time Tup as a preliminary fuel pressure control for recovering a fuel pressure when an ignition switch is turned on. When the start switch is turned on thereafter, the actuation of the fuel pump 26 is restarted while cranking the engine 1. If a coolant temperature Tw of the engine 1 is equal to or higher than a vapor determination value Tws at a time of turning on the ignition switch, then it is determined that vapor is contained in the fuel pump 26, an injector 16 is kept in a valve open state for purge time Tvapor in parallel to the actuation of the fuel pump 26 at the beginning of the preliminary fuel pressure control, and the vapor in the fuel pump 26 is discharged into an intake port 9a.
