Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starter having a magnet switch having an auxiliary contact point for rated rotating after a ring gear gently fits to a pinion, having a large dimensional margin in manufacture, and shielding influence of abrasion powder generated from opening-closing operation of a main contact point.
SOLUTION: This engine starter has a starter motor, the pinion driven by the starter motor and meshing with the ring gear of an engine by advancing-retreating, the main contact point and the auxiliary contact point for driving the starter motor at mutually different first and second speeds, a resistance connected to the auxiliary contact point, a plunger assembly for supporting a movable contact point of the main and auxiliary contact points and moving between a nonoperating position and an operating position, a switch coil for separating-contacting the main and auxiliary contact points by driving the plunger assembly and a starter switch having a driving mechanism for advancing-retreating the pinion.
