Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine which enables arrangement of a conventional speed sensor on a crank case without increasing an outer diameter of a rotor, improvement of external appearance, and prevents damage of the speed sensor caused by external force with certainty.
SOLUTION: A transmission part 20 of an engine unit 1 is assembled to and housed in a pair of crank cases 41, 42 which are combined with each other in a bilaterally detachable manner. A speed sensing rotor 33 is arranged on a drive shaft 30 of the transmission part 20, while a recession 43 is formed on one crank case 42 corresponding to the rotor 33, on its side of an outer peripheral rear end surface 42a. A speed sensor 44 is attached to the recession 43 so as to be faced to the rotor 33 and in the vicinity thereof. An attaching base end 44a of the speed sensor 44 is shielded and protected by a skirt portion 52a integrally projected from a clutch cover 52.
