PURPOSE: To enable engraving speedily and surely even on metals by equipping an eccentrically supported and continuously rotating mechanism wherein a ram driver actuates a ram, and by having at least one vacancy on type circumference of a type wheel.

CONSTITUTION: This is equipped with an eccentrically supported and continuously rotating mechanism 16 wherein a ram driver 10 actuates a ram 4. A type wheel 3 has at least one vacancy 17 on the circumference 7 of types 6, so the circumference of the type wheel 3 lacks at least one type. The vacancy 17 of the type wheel can be formed without a single spring arm, and plural vacancies can be adjacent or distributed over the whole of the type wheel 3. Because this system allows high-speed rotation of the eccentric mechanism 16, beautiful engraving can be made at a high speed and, when no engraving is required, positioning of the type wheel 3 is accomplished by placing the vacancy 17 at the engraving position 8 so as to face no type with a working surface 12 intervened with a controller 15.
