To provide an engraving pen enabling movement of an engraving needle to perform engraving on an engraving surface and to engrave on the engraving surface a picture that cannot be drawn without lifting a brush from a sheet without providing a means for vertically moving an overall engraving pen.
The engraving pen 1 comprises a moving mechanism for relatively moving an engraving needle 7 to a body case 2 of the pen 1 in a direction approaching for an end 7c of the needle 7 to an engraving surface T or separating for the needle 7 from the surface T. The mechanism has a moving space 3c provided in the case 2, a moving element 5 movable along an inner periphery of the space 3c, and a first urging means 8 for urging the element 5 from a direction separating from the surface T. The element 5 is urged in a direction for approaching it to the surface T against the urging force of the means 8 by a second urging means (compressed gas) to move an end 7c of the needle 7 to the surface T upon movement of the element 5, and the force of the second means is released to move the end 7c of the needle 7 in a direction separating from the surface T.
