Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the proportion of synthetic rubber latex particles having unenlarged particle diameters while controlling the increase in the viscosity of synthetic rubber latex after particle diameter enlargement by adding a specified acid-modified copolymer latex to a conjugated diene copolymer rubber latex. SOLUTION: An acid-modified copolymer latex is obtained by polymerizing 100 pts.wt. monomer mixture comprising 5-40 wt.%, preferably 10-30 wt.%, monomer containing acid groups, such as (meth)acrylic acid, 10-95 wt.%, preferably 30-75 wt.% conjugated diene monomer such as 1,3-butadiene, and 0-85 wt.%, preferably 0-60 wt.% monomer copolymerizable therewith and other than an acrylic ester in the presence of 0.1-10 pts.wt. emulsifier, 0.001-5 pts.wt. polymerization initiator, and 0.01-5 pts.wt. molecular weight modifier. The acid- modified copolymer latex in an amount of 0.01-10 pts.wt. (on a solid content basis) is added to a conjugated diene copolymer rubber latex in an amount of 100 pts.wt. (on a solid content basis).
