Title:
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY SYSTEM FOR HYDROGENATING NAPHTHALENES
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2005225859
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a new system that can hydrogenate naphthalenes with industrial advantage.

In this environmentally friendly system for hydrogenating naphthalenes, the naphthalenes are hydrogenated as carbon dioxide is allowed to participate in the reaction, a catalyst bearing platinum metal on the support, for example, rhodium, ruthenium, palladium, or platinum is used, thereby the reaction temperature can be lowered and the reaction time is shortened more than those of conventional ones and the naphthalenes are efficiently hydrogenated. This invention further provides a method for producing hydrogenated naphthalenes and provide a platinum metal-carrying catalyst for hydrogenating naphthalenes.
