Abstract:

To provide an enzymatic process for stereoselective preparation of an amide for therapy.

The new enzymatic process for stereoselective preparation of N-aryl- or N-pyridyl-propanamide having a tertiary alcohol stereo center is exemplified by the preparation of (S)-(-)-N-(4-benzoylphenyl)-3,3,3-trifluoro-2-hydroxy-2-methylpropanamide. Such the compound is an unsealing agent of a cellular potassium channel, and therefor useful for treating incontinentia of urinary organs, and other diseases and symptoms (including hypertension, asthma, peripheral vascular disease and angina).
