Abstract:
PURPOSE: To receive a signal sample at a first rate, and to execute an equalizing operation at a second rate smaller than a signaling rate. CONSTITUTION: An equalizer 204 receives a sample by a shift register 700 at a first rate. A selected sample from the shift register 700 is clocked to a buffer set 702 at a second rate. An equalizer coefficient acts on the sample stored in the buffer set 702, and an equalization symbol sequence is generated. For example, the equalizer 204 is the element of a receiver acting on a received signal generated by multiplexing a data stream from several video source, and an equalization symbol corresponding to the selected vice source is generated. A received signal sample is clocked to the shift register 700 of the equalizer 204 at a speed higher than a signaling rate. The sample from the shift register 700 is clocked to the buffer set 702 at a rate at which the symbol is generated by the video source, and equalized.
