PURPOSE: To dispense with a special driving power source for a moving truck, by providing a rotary driving shaft along the moving passage of a stacker crane and providing a driven roller on the moving truck so that the roller is located in pressure contact with the shaft and can be shifted to a posture for forward movement, backward movement or stoppage.

CONSTITUTION: When a rotary driving shaft 34 is rotating and a driven roller 35 is maintained in a first posture A, the roller is driven to apply a foward thrust to a moving truck 3. When the truck 3 has come into contact with the truck 7 of a stacker crane 1, the roller 35 is put in such a stoppage posture C that is extends across the shaft 34 and stops. The lifter of the crane 1 is then moved up to transfer cargo 49 onto a roller conveyor 13. When a driven roller support 38 is pushed and turned against a spring 40 by moving the rod 46 of a cylinder unit 45 forwards, the support 38 comes into a stopper 42 to put the driven roller 35 in a second posture B so that the roller is rotated while being in pressure contact with the rotary shaft 34, to cause a thurst to move the truck 3 back to its home position.
