PURPOSE: To provide the erosion resistance ceramic excellent in erosion resistance and hard to stick property to molten metal and the member using the ceramic.
CONSTITUTION: An erosion resistance ceramic has the surface layer consisting of one or more of the compound made of aluminum nitride, BN, rare earth elements, alkaline earth elements on the surface of the silicone nitride sintered body which is obtained by integrally sintering a silicone nidride formed body and one or more of the compound made of aluminum nitride, BN, rare earth elements, alkaline earth elements. a member for molten metal uses the above ceramic. Due to the existence of MgAl2O4, AlN in the surface layer, the ceramic is excellent in hard to stick property and erosion resistance and due to the existence of h-BN, the ceramic is excellent in thermal shock resistance, e.g. is excellent in erosion resistance and hard to stick for molten metal of Fe, etc.
