Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error correction device which is capable of correcting errors with in a short time.
SOLUTION: An error correction device is equipped with a level determining means, which determines the multivalued level of data symbols and parity symbols which are inputted; a syndrome-generating means; and a control means which generates a syndrome S0 by the use of the determining level determined by the level determining means, outputs data symbols when the syndrome S0 is zero, generates syndromes S0 and S1, in place of two determination levels, one upper level and one lower level, when the generated syndrome S0 is not zero, and outputs data symbols, when the generated syndromes S0 and S1 are both zero.
