PURPOSE: To enable the connection and separation of adjacent trucks before loading on a step of an escalator and after unloading from the step, and prevent the trucks from making a long line on the loading and unloading sides by providing a male part or female part in such a manner as to be displaceable in mutual leaving and approaching directions.

CONSTITUTION: Prepared trucks 2 are arranged in non-connected state in the vicinity of a loading place. When the trucks 2 are loaded on an escalator under running, a worker holds the lead truck 2 so that it never contact with the side plate of the escalator in the loading place. Another working carries the truck 2 near the loading place and operates a lever 8 to separate and connect the front male connecting part 4 of this truck to the rear female connecting part 3a of the next truck 2 ahead. The worker repeats this work to connect trucks 2 successively. On the other hand, a worker 11 separates the connected trucks 2 when they are reached to an unloading place.
